Mars is, vanaf de zon geteld, de vierde planeet van het zonnestelsel en de buur van de aarde. Hij wordt de ‘rode planeet’ genoemd, maar oogt in werkelijkheid eerder okerkleurig door het ijzeroxide in het oppervlak. De planeet heeft bergen, valleien, inactieve vulkanen, zandduinen en poolkappen die doen denken aan de aarde. Mars heeft twee manen.

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and Earth’s neighbor in the solar system. It is called the “red planet,” but in reality it appears more ochre in color due to the iron oxide on its surface. The planet has mountains, valleys, inactive volcanoes, sand dunes, and polar caps that resemble those of Earth. Mars has two moons.
Each celestial body is unique in its color and composition — just like we humans, a reflection of the infinite variation within our nature. This painting is inspired by images from the Hope space probe.
